Amani Saeed is an international writer whose work brings the big issues to your kitchen table. She writes poetry, films, articles, bad date reviews, and whatever else is needed to get the point across. Their writing explores the crisis cultivated by living between sometimes (but not always) contradictory cultures, treading the line between roots and routes.
The current stuff: Amani is the founder and host of of the interdisciplinary sell-out night the hen-nah party, a queer alternative to traditional henna nights.
The professional accreditations: in addition to being a former member of the Roundhouse Collective, the Yoniverse Collective, and the Barbican Young Poets programme, Amani has worked with Richmix, the United Nations, the BBC, Huck magazine, Tata Lit Live, The Queer Muslim Project, and the British Council, among others. Amani co-wrote the film Queer Parivaar, which premiered at the BFI in 2022 and won Best in British at the Iris Prize in 2023. You can watch it on Channel4.
